Welcome back to the Selah Creek Dental blog! In our last blog post, we touched on a few of the options that individuals looking to replace missing teeth can take advantage of. We touched on dental implants, fixed bridges, and resin-retained bridges, but there are still a couple of other options that you could take into consideration for replacing missing teeth. So, we are going to pick up right where we left off and continue to go over the various options that you can count on your local cosmetic dentist to help with.

Removable Partial Denture

Dentures are something that people are very familiar with, but very few people realize that partial dentures are an option for individuals missing just a few teeth. Partial dentures that are removable have teeth that will fill in the holes where teeth are missing, and only those spaces. These dentures are fitted to your mouth so that they’re snug and give you as much support and functionality as possible.

In most cases, removable partial dentures will be taken out when eating. While they do have the same aesthetic and functionality of a tooth, they’re not quite as durable or strong. So, when you’re eating, removable partial dentures can become uncomfortable. Aside from that, food could become lodged in the opening of your partial dentures. Even so, removable partial dentures are an affordable option that provides you with a very natural look, so they’re definitely an option worth considering.

Full Set of Removable Dentures

The last option that we’re going to cover is the full set of removable dentures. This is an option that, like the partial dentures, looks and feels like a regular tooth, but doesn’t have the same amount of strength needed to make chewing easy. Aside from chewing being difficult, dentures aren’t an option that is comfortable to wear for long periods of time. In fact, we don’t suggest wearing your full set of dentures for a full 24 hours.

For many, dentures are a great option when many or all teeth are missing. Given that a full set of dentures provides you with a full mouth of teeth, it is a cost-effective way of getting back your smile and having the bit of functionality that you need to eat.

Every Patient is Different

The reality of the various options available for replacing missing teeth is that there’s no right or wrong answer — every patient is different, as are their circumstances. What may work for you might not be the best fit for someone else, which is exactly why you need to come in and get a consultation.

In order for our team to determine which option is going to be the best for you, we need to understand your dental health, the health of the teeth surrounding the open spaces, your gum health, and so much more. Whether you’re ready to commit to a solution for your missing teeth or you’re simply looking at the options available to you, the team at Selah Creek Dental would love to help. The first step to replacing your missing teeth is scheduling an appointment so that you can meet with a cosmetic dentist.
